We found out that sleeping in was probably not going to happen on this trip. The condo faces the ocean and the sun came right through the windows above the bed each morning. It was kind of nice because then you could see the sun rise over the ocean which was something I'd never seen before :) It was a good thing we were up early because we needed to make the drive to Charleston, SC which was 2 hours away. I found a Groupon for a Civil War walking tour in downtown Charleston which turned out to be a great deal! A group of us followed a guide around the city as he told us stories about Charleston's role in the Civil War and pointed out buildings that were once homes of important Confederates. Charleston is a BEAUTIFUL city!! It was quaint, historic, friendly, and picturesque. The gorgeous weather contributed to it being such a perfect day!

After eating lunch at a place downtown called the Blind Tiger Pub, we went to the Boone Hall Plantation. It was once a rice plantation starting in the 1600s but it is now a museum and working farm that sells their produce at a local farmers market and grocery store. It has also been the site for several movie sets including the Notebook.

After grabbing some fruit at the Boone Hall farmers market, we drove back to Myrtle Beach for some time on the beach and a relaxing night.
DAY 5
South Carolina is a big golfing community. Perfect for us :) Day 5 was devoted to a whole day of golf. Zach chose the Legends Golf Resort about 20 mins from our condo and we spent about 5 hours out on the course. It was another beautiful day and we spent it with a local couple, Jeff and Beth, who we were paired up with. Just like us, he golfed and she rode along and watched. They were so friendly and fun, we had a great time getting to know them and enjoying the lovely day. They told us about a restaurant on the beach by our condo that we went to that night for dinner. It started to get really windy and rain so we couldn't sit outside on the deck but we still had fun and Zach had this crazy good burger! After dinner we walked along the boardwalk and shopped for some souvenirs.
Engrossed in either golf or hockey. Don't worry, he gave most of his attention to me :)
DAY 6
Our last day in Myrtle Beach was supposed to be my beach day but unfortunately the weather didn't know that. The morning started out lovely like this but pretty soon the clouds rolled in again and off and on all day it would pour and then clear up and then pour again. We spent most of the time indoors but did manage to walk around the grand strand and had the BEST ice cream at a place called Friendlys. It melted as soon as we stepped outside because of the humidity and we looked ridiculous trying to eat it up before it dripped all over the ground. We found a place for our last night of vacation on Urbanspoon called Quigley's. I wanted Modern American food and this place was perfect. Our meals didn't quite impress us as much as our amazing appetizer did; fried green tomatoes topped with goat cheese, blackened shrimp, and a spicy thai glaze. Deeeelicious!!!!!!!
We decided to make the trip home in one long day rather than split it up and we crossed 6 states in 14 hours! We took a different and longer route home to avoid the toll roads in West Virginia and praise the Lord we had another smooth, problem free drive! We made bets on what time we would get home and I guessed we would pull into our parking lot at 10:50pm. I was right on!! We had a wonderful time on our first vacation together and can't wait till we have the opportunity again to explore and try new experiences :)
We drove 2286 miles on this trip! No wonder the battery died a couple days later...
