Our First Visitor!

2.5 weeks in Florida have come and gone already!  To say the transition has gone smoothly would be an understatement.  It really has gone so well!  Sure I've had my moments of feeling overwhelmed, homesick, and missing the wonderful people in Indiana, but overall we couldn't be more sure that this is where we're supposed to be!

After a scary incident of almost causing a multiple car accident with our trailer swinging loose from the hitch on our first morning in Cape Coral, we experienced our first Sunday in our new church, had our first meal with TNB and the neighborhood kids, and said goodbye to mom and dad Schu.  We were all alone in our new home in a new place...but not for long!  Emily won the title of being our first official visitor :) (even though I forgot to have her sign our guestbook :()

Her flight was delayed to 1am Thursday but it was all good because we were just two free-wheelers with no jobs to wake up for!  We hosted Em in our cute little home for 4.5 days and had fun exploring the city and enjoying down time together :)

Thursday morning we took Em to our first "regular place".  This is Annie's and they serve delicious and reasonably priced breakfasts!  

After breakfast we toured the Edison and Ford Winter Estates.  I felt like an spy because my interview to be a Site Historian there was the next day :)  Fortunately I didn't see anyone from the tour at the interview.

This is just part of the ONE Banyan tree that Thomas Edison planted as a sapling in 1925.  It now covers an acre of ground!  He was interested in it's potential use for producing rubber.  (Do I sound like a guide yet;)?)

Beautiful view out on the Caloosahatchee!  It was really hot and humid that day but the breeze off the river was so nice!

On Saturday we hit up our first Florida beach!  We tried Sanibel Island and spent a couple hours at Bowman's Beach.  The weather was perfect and we found an abundance of large shells to start our collection.  I was the only smart one who applied the right amount of sunscreen, the other two no so much :P

Those were all the pictures we took :/ but we did try a new restaurant down the road, watched movies, played games, hung out at TNB, and checked out every thrift store we passed!  Thanks for spending part of your Fall Break with us, Emily!  We love you and loved having you here!
